The Village Cooperative is a new senior retirement community for senior living coming to Asbury and will give the residents of Asbury, and the surrounding areas, the opportunity to stay in their community with their long established friends, neighbors, churches and other service providers.
The cooperative will be a three-story building with a centrally located elevator and underground, heated parking. The Village will include 50 homes of both one and two bedroom designs. All are light and open with a separate laundry room, storage areas and a private balcony. It will also feature beautifully decorated community areas including a community room with kitchen, guest suite, club room, reading areas, outdoor planting areas, wood working shop, and fitness center.
The Village Cooperative of Asbury was designed with you in mind offering convenient home designs with special attention to details that will make it easier for you to remain in the home for years to come. It also offers an entirely maintenance-free living environment in a secure setting. And, if you like to travel, staff will take care of your plants and mail.
About Asbury: Asbury is a city in Dubuque County, Iowa, United States, and a suburb of the city of Dubuque. It is part of the Dubuque, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,450 at the 2000 census, but is now estimated to be 3,651 (2006). Asbury is the third-largest city in Dubuque County, but it will likely soon pass Dyersville, Iowa to become the second-largest. The city is largely a bedroom community, made up of spacious, new subdivisions whose residents work in Dubuque or Peosta, Iowa.
For most of its history, Asbury was very small, much like hundreds of other towns in rural Iowa. In the 1960 census, Asbury still had only 71 residents. During this time, the City of Dubuque grew immensely, and the sprawl reached the Asbury area beginning in the 1960s. By 1970, Asbury had 410 residents and had grown fast enough to become the fastest growing city in the state of Iowa
Asbury has experienced a 50% increase in population from 2000 to 2006.
